DeepMind based on artificial intelligence and has already helped solve even the most difficult puzzles several times. This time it was about knots mathematicians have been grappling with for many years
The subject of the research was something called a guess, which is an unconfirmed sentence that appears to be correct. Algorithms of the machine learning have been used before in mathematics to develop such theoretical ideas, but they were not as complex as in this case. The authors of this breakthrough have their success in Nature described.
Chang Hsu, a mathematician from Taiwan, teaches math on Pornhub. The 34-year-old's films have been seen by nearly 2 million people and he has over 7.000 subscribers. He advertises the videos with the slogan "Play intensely, learn intensively".
"I knew that day would come sometime. People are fascinated when you do unique things in unique places. Because so few people are on video platforms for Adult math teaching and on the other hand so many people are watching videos there, I thought, if I make my videos available there, they will be seen by a lot more people. - said Chang Hsu in an interview with the portal Focus Taiwan.
It was commonly assumed that complex numbers, ie those that contain an imaginary number component and (i squared results in minus one) are just a mathematical trick. However, a Polish-Sino-Canadian team of scientists has proven that the imaginary part of the quantum mechanics can be seen in action in the real world - reports the Center for New Technologies at the University of Warsaw.
Our intuitive ideas about the ability of numbers to describe the physical world require significant revision. Up until now it seemed that only real numbers were associated with measurable physical quantities. However, it has succeeded Quantum states by entangled photons to find that cannot be distinguished without resorting to complex numbers. In addition, the researchers conducted an experiment that determined the meaning of complex numbers for the quantum mechanics approved
Polish mathematicians have managed to solve an important problem regarding the Symmetry of all symmetries to solve. This was an unsolved problem for several decades - one of the greatest challenges of the geometric theory of groups.
The results of Dr. Marek Kaluba (Adam Mickiewicz University and Karlsruhe Institute of Technology), Prof. Dawid Kielak (University of Oxford) and Prof. Piotr Nowak (Mathematical Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences) were published in one of the most renowned mathematical journals Annals of Mathematics published.
There was already chess for three players, played on a three-sided chess board, and chess for four players, played on a chess board with 160 pieces (instead of the traditional 64). Chess games were played on 80 or 100 boards. In its day, Polish hexagonal chess pieces with hexagonal squares became popular. It seemed that everything in this field had already been invented. Zbigniew Kokosiński, lecturer at the Technical University of Cracow, however, had a completely new idea. He has that Diagonal chess designed.

Zbigniew Kokosiński, PhD, professor at the Cracow University of Technology, has developed a new way of playing the game of chess - that Diagonal chess. As read on the university website, the new game method is more interesting than traditional chess and also enables beginners to play with more experienced partners. As is so often the case, Professor Kokosiński made his discovery by accident.
The author of the solution checked the website The Chess Variant Pages to see that no one had come up with such an idea yet. That's how it went Diagonal chess the scientist registered it as the latest version of the game. Dr. Kokosiński works in the Automation and Information Technology Department. He learned to play chess at the age of 8. The specialist did not intend to make a revolution in the royal game. When the university introduced the obligation to work remotely due to a pandemic, it occurred to him on April 8th that chess could be played in a completely different way.
Australian scientists recently described a chemical molecule that has long fascinated them. It is believed that the outcome of the research will have an impact on new designs of solar cells, organic light emitting diodes, and other next generation technologies in which, it turns out, benzene can be used.
Benzene is an organic chemical compound. It is the simplest carbocyclic, neutral aromatic hydrocarbon. It's a part of DNA, proteins, wood, and oil. The problem of the construction of benzene has been of interest to chemists since this compound was severed. In 1865 the German chemist Friedrich August Kekulé hypothesized that benzene is a cyclohexatriene with a hexagonal ring in which single and double bonds alternate between the carbon atoms.
The Norwegian Academy of Sciences decided to award the 2020 Abel Prize to Hillel Furstenberg, Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel, and Gregory Margulis, Yale University, New Haven, CT, USA, "for their pioneering work in the application of methods of probability and dynamics in group theory ", number theory and combinatorics"
